The complete SSOL archive, 2011–2022
Scientific Study of Literature (SSOL) is the journal of the International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature (IGEL). From its first issue in 2011 until 2022, SSOL was published by John Benjamins as a subscription-based journal.
The full archive of those volumes — every article from 2011 to 2022 — is catalogued in our public Zotero group library. Anyone can browse the bibliographic records, read the abstracts, and follow the DOI of each article.
How to read the full text
Because these volumes were published under subscription, the PDFs cannot be posted openly. There are two ways to get them:
- Become an IGEL member. Members get access to the PDFs of the entire 2011–2022 archive through the society’s Zotero group library. Join IGEL here.
- Through the publisher. Every article remains available from John Benjamins, and via your institution’s subscription if it has one.
SSOL is now diamond open access
Since 2023, SSOL is published as a diamond open access journal: free to read for everyone, and free to publish in — no subscription fees, and no article processing charges (APCs) for authors.
Diamond open access does not happen by itself; it is sustained by the society behind the journal. If you value a literature journal that charges neither readers nor authors, the most direct way to support it is to become an IGEL member. Membership keeps SSOL independent, keeps it free, and gives you access to the full historical archive at the same time.
